In this unit, your students will work as physicists and engineers, carrying out experiments to investigate phenomena, principles, and concepts involved in physical science and technology. Working in pairs, they’ll go through a series of lessons that use hands-on experiments to explore gear ratios, friction, and gravity. The unit concludes with an open-ended challenge, which provides an opportunity for students to apply their newly acquired skills and knowledge in creative ways.
Design and build extensions onto the Driving Base and program it to complete two tasks.
Build a Tilting Platform to experimentally determine the coefficient of friction of different objects.
In this unit, your students will work as scientists and engineers. They’ll immerse themselves in motivating STEAM activities that prompt creative problem-solving, communication, and teamwork. They’ll work on the Challenge Mat, an engaging and motivating platform where they’ll creatively apply their STEAM knowledge and expand their problem-solving skills as they develop their Space Challenge solutions.
In this unit, your students will use the Driving Base as a modular platform for learning the basics of building and programming autonomous robots. Each lesson introduces a new extension to be built onto the Driving Base. These extensions enable it to detect obstacles, move objects, follow lines, and turn by precise angles. The unit ends with a factory-themed challenge that will put your students’ robotics skills to the test!
