24 Hours of STEM

24 Hours of STEM was a 24-hour virtual festival filled with thought-provoking speakers from around the world.

The event was initiated by Australian FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) Team 3132 The Thunder Down Under (Sydney, Australia) and co-run with FRC teams from around the world, including: 4253 Raid Zero (Taipei, Chinese Taipei), 4481 the Rembrandts (Eindhoven, Netherlands), 503 Frog Force (Michigan, USA), 1073 the Force Team (New Hampshire, USA), and 971 Spartan Robotics (California, USA).

Over a 24 hour period, presenters from all over the world shared their knowledge on a wide variety of topics including all five FIRST programs, LEGO robotics with SPIKE Prime, virtual coding, and more.

Presentations included:

  • How are new drugs and vaccines discovered? - Diana Quan-Le from Centenary Institute (Sydney, NSW)
  • FLL EV3 Robots that KISS - FLL Team Apollo (Central Coast, NSW)
  • How to Kick-Off an FLL (Challenge) Season - Andrew and Lyndell Clark from FRC 5985 (Wollongong, NSW)
  • Introduction to SPIKE Prime - Rob Torok (Hobart, TAS) with assistance from members of Devil Robotics (Hobart, TAS) and Team Apollo (Central Coast, NSW)
