Since 1998 we have partnered with FIRST® to inspire kids through STEM learning. As we look to the future, we’ve decided not to renew our partnership with FIRST. The 2026-2027 FIRST® LEGO® League season will be our last together.
LEGO® Education will launch a 2027-2028 season, and we look forward to bringing fun, inspiring and creative STEM learning and the important skills it develops to even more children in the future.
We can’t share more details yet, only that we will continue to work with our incredibly dedicated partners, volunteers and community around the world. Thank you for all you do to inspire the next generation of problem-solvers and visionaries.
For now, let’s finish the 2025-2026 season strongly and make the 2026-2027 FIRST LEGO League season one of the best!

No, that will run as usual and we are excited to announce the theme during World Festival on May 2nd. We look forward to continuing to work with the incredibly dedicated partners, volunteers and community to deliver an exciting season!
As communicated in January 2026, we stay committed to delivering a program that supports both the LEGO® Education SPIKE™ and legacy portfolios as well as LEGO® Education Computer Science & AI through the 2026-2027 season. We are excited to continue that support through our LEGO Education 2027-2028 season.
The decision is part of our ambition to make STEM learning as accessible, engaging, and fun as possible to all students. We believe students build valuable skills through STEM learning and LEGO Education and the wider LEGO Group is in a great position to support this.
We are looking at all aspects of the program to make sure it’s as accessible, fun and engaging as possible. We will keep the elements that help our community develop important skills such as creativity, problem solving and collaboration and look for opportunities to do even more.
LEGO® Education will continue to offer competition seasons. While our partnership with FIRST® will end after the 2026–2027 season, LEGO Education is already planning a new season for 2027–2028. So this is not the end of our competition—it’s truly a new beginning.
It will build on what students love today—hands‑on learning, teamwork, creativity, and robotics. It will also introduce new challenges that bring in Computer Science & AI learning.
