AMSTI Robotics Grant

Eligibility
- Alabama public school LEAs serving grades K–12 (elementary, middle, and high schools)
- One application per school; LEA must submit on the school’s behalf
Goals
- Support robotics education through the purchase of equipment, training, curriculum, and/or professional development
- Promote [hands-on learning][1] environments that enhance student collaboration, problem-solving, and creativity
- Align instruction with Alabama’s 2018 Course of Study for Digital Literacy and Computer Science
Application Due Date
September 30, 2025 (by 5:00 p.m. via DocuSign only)
Grant Cycle
- Fiscal Year 2026
- Funds must be expended by September 30, 2026
- No carryover of funds permitted
Grant Award Total Amount
Up to $3,500 per school
Allowable Purchases
- Robotics kits (e.g., LEGO® Education SPIKE™ Essential or SPIKE™ Prime) that allow students to build and program robotic devices.
- [LEGO Education SPIKE™ Essential][1] and [SPIKE™ Prime][2] are fully aligned as student-designed, programmable robotics kits that promote collaboration, critical thinking, and creativity.
- [LEGO Education Professional Development][3]: Can be partially funded if used to support robotics-aligned instruction and if PD costs are under 10% of the total grant
Program Implementation Requirements
- Must be implemented during FY2026
- Requires submission of an expenditure report by September 30, 2026
- ALSDE may request supporting documentation (photos, purchase orders, site visits)
Keep in Mind
- Application must include impact data (teachers/students served), budget breakdown, and full electronic signatures
- Submissions via DocuSign only—print or email submissions will not be accepted
- Proposals will be scored blindly; only those recommended by at least two reviewers will be considered
- Strong alignment to [Alabama’s Digital Literacy and Computer Science standards][1] increases competitiveness
