ASAP Grant

Eligibility
- Local education agencies (LEAs), and not-for-profit organizations
- Priority for programs serving populations with 65% or higher poverty (based on free/reduced lunch data) or areas lacking access to quality after-school/summer programming
Goals
- Implement or enhance after-school and/or summer-learning programs that accelerate student learning in STEM and/or reading
- Provide academic enrichment activities such as:
- Homework assistance and tutoring
- Financial literacy and arts education
- Foundational and applied learning experiences
- Enrichment aligned with Alabama Afterschool Quality Standards
Application Due Date
- December 5, 2025
Grant Award Total Amount
- Up to $50,000 per program
- At least 45 grants awarded, depending on available state funds
Allowable Purchases
- Allowable costs include: educational/enrichment activities, instructional equipment, in-state PD, and materials/supplies
Alignment with LEGO® Education solutions:
- SPIKE™ Essential & SPIKE™ Prime: Support STEM learning and problem-solving through hands-on robotics aligned with academic enrichment goals
- Professional Development: Local or in-state PD is explicitly allowable, aligning with LEGO Education training and educator capacity-building designed custom for your organization.
Program Implementation Requirements
- Programs must operate during non-school hours (after-school, before-school, weekends, or school breaks)
- Must serve students in grades Pre-K through 12
- Minimum operation: at least three days per week for after-school programs
- Required use of Alabama Afterschool Quality Standards in planning and delivery
Keep in Mind
- LEGO Education solutions are aligned with Alabama's Science and Technology Standards.
- Applications submitted through DocuSign PowerForm; incomplete signatures disqualify submission
- Programs must attend a required virtual information session after award notification
- A rubric guides reviewer scoring across categories (Need, Objectives, Activities, Evaluation, etc.)—will be available within the application packet
