CSTEC Grant
Eligibility
- Georgia local educational agencies are eligible to apply - one application per district
- LEAs apply on behalf of eligible educators teaching at least one computer science course in a K-12 Georgia public school during the current school year.
Goals
- Build a community for computer science teachers that provides professional support for instruction, practice, and pedagogy.
- Promote physical computing as a way to engage students in computer science education.
- Support access to computer science experiences through educator support and physical computing.

Award Amount
- Up to $15,000 per district
- Up to $10,000 per grantee
Goals
- Broaden participation in K-12 computer science education- Support implementation of O.C.G.A. 20-2-149.3
- Eliminate barriers and build educator capacity so students have access and opportunity to engage in CS experiences
- Build a community of computer science teachers that supports instruction, practice, and pedagogy
- Promote physical computing to engage students in computer science education- Increase student access and opportunity to participate in computer science experiences

- Computer science teacher professional development and training
- Computer science teacher certification
- Computer science teacher endorsement programs
- Class sets of physical computing devices
- Professional training necessary for implementation and use of the physical computing devices
- Teacher professional learning and equipment supporting mastery of the Georgia Standards of Excellence for Computer Science

- LEGO® Education Professional Development aligns directly with the grant’s focus on building teacher capacity.
- LEGO® Education Computer Science & AI Professional Learning supports educators’ implementation of computer science instruction
- LEGO Education Computer Science & AI is aligned because CSTEC supports class sets of physical computing devices used for computer science instruction.
- LEGO Education Computer Science & AI combines interactive hardware, coding, and standards-aligned computer science curriculum for classroom implementation.
- LEGO Education Professional Development aligns with the requirement for professional training necessary to implement and use the physical computing devices
Implementation Requirements
- 100% of funds must go toward teacher capacity building
- Trained teachers must be available to train others in their LEA
- Final report required
- Equipment must be used in a graded, state-approved CS course during the regular school day
- Must directly support the Georgia Standards of Excellence for CS
- Must expand access to meaningful CS instruction
