Curriculum enhancements
LEGO® Education SPIKE™ Prime aligns with this grant as instructional equipment and teacher training to support Python programming instruction and preparation for the Certified Entry Level Python Programmer credential.

Credentials must be new to students and included on Iowa’s approved IRC list
The Certified Entry Level Python Programmer certification is an approved IRC for 2025–26
LEGO® Education SPIKE™ Prime sets provide hands-on programming experiences in both block-based and Python coding, directly supporting the skills assessed in the Python certification exam
LEGO Education professional development ensures teachers are prepared to integrate SPIKE coding activities into credential-aligned coursework
SPIKE solutions can also supplement pathways into larger CS certifications such as IT Specialist or cloud computing credentials, creating a stackable learning sequence for students

Only industry-recognized credentials on the approved IRC list are eligible (requests for new IRCs will reopen in spring 2026)
Credentials must be new offerings for participating students
Applications should demonstrate how the credential connects to workforce needs and expands opportunities for high schoolers
Remember to identify the correct District/System Size Category for your district:
- Small - K-12 student population under 1,200
- Medium - K-12 student population between 1,200 and 4,999
- Large - K-12 student population of 5,000 or over
