Kentucky State Funding
CTE Innovation and Support Grant

Eligibility
- Kentucky public school districts (must serve as fiscal agent).
- Area Technology Centers (ATCs) in the KY Tech System may apply independently.
- Each CTE school or CTE program in a comprehensive high school must submit a separate application.
Goals
- Support innovation in new or emerging career fields within Career and Technical Education (CTE), with emphasis on improving student outcomes.
Application Due Date
- November 20, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. ET (late applications not reviewed).
Grant Award Total Amount
- Total pool: $500,000
- Approximately 5 awards up to $100,000 each
Allowable Purchases
- Professional development related to the project
- Equipment (including technology associated with equipment)
- Technology directly tied to project goals
Alignment with LEGO® Education SPIKE™ Solutions:
- SPIKE™ Essential and SPIKE™ Prime support CTE pathways by introducing students to engineering design, coding, and robotics—all critical in emerging KY STEM and technical careers.
- These sets build problem-solving, computational thinking, and hands-on technical skills that directly prepare students for modern industry roles and support the grant’s focus on innovation and new career fields aligned to KY CTE Programs of Study.
- Bundle LEGO® Education Professional Development ensures teachers can integrate SPIKE into CTE programs effectively, expanding capacity and sustaining innovation beyond the grant period.
Program Implementation Requirements
- Applications are evaluated on Needs Assessment, Plan for Implementation, Student Outcomes, and Budget (scoring rubric).
- Clear project timeline, PD plan, and sustainability measures required.
- Narrative capped at 10 pages, double-spaced, Times New Roman 12pt.
- Must submit both original and redacted copies.
Keep in Mind
- LEGO® Education SPIKE™ aligns with Kentucky Computer Science and Technology standards, preparing students for emerging technical careers.
- Must redact identifying info (district/school names, county, city) in the blinded copy.
- Awards based on rubric (max 97 points; must score ≥75 to be considered).
- Budget must be aligned with allowable MUNIS codes.
- Submit electronically only; each file must be under 10 MB.
- Awardees will be posted on the KDE Competitive Grant Awards website
