Alignment with LEGO Education SPIKE Essential, Prime, and LEGO Education Science:
- SPIKE kits and LEGO Education Science are hands-on, non-consumable kits that directly support student use and align with Louisiana Math and Science Standards. These solutions promote inquiry, coding, engineering, and data analysis—meeting QSM’s goals for standards-based, reusable instructional materials. Designed for repeated use during the school day, they offer high impact and long-term value for STEM instruction.
Program Implementation Requirements
- Materials must be used during the regular instructional day with traditional student populations—after-school programs, clubs, or enrichment are not eligible.
- Instruction must align with the Louisiana State Standards for Math and/or Science, and proposals should describe how students will interact with materials to build understanding of key concepts.
- Schools must be registered as an LSU supplier prior to receiving funds. Funds are typically reimbursed, not prepaid. Once awarded, schools must purchase approved items first, then submit receipts for reimbursement.
- Teachers are expected to:
- Implement the materials during the 2025–2026 school year
- Use materials to support multiple instructional days or units (not just one-time use)
- Collect and share student outcomes through a final report, which includes how the materials impacted student engagement, learning, and achievement
- Submit an itemized expense report with receipts once purchases are made
- Any significant changes to the proposed budget or materials list require prior approval from the QSM program administrator.
Keep in Mind
- Providing a quote with your application strengthens your application. (Receive a free, no-hassle quote by adding kits into your cart - up to the qualifying dollar amount - then clicking Request a Quote to have one automatically emailed to you.)
- Use the official QSM Proposal Rubric to guide your responses
- Attend a virtual proposal writing workshop to strengthen your application
- Focus your narrative on how students (not teachers) will use the materials
- Clearly align activities to the Louisiana content standards
- Emphasize student outcomes, engagement, and learning gains
- Avoid disqualification by:
- Removing all identifying info (name, school, district) from the narrative
- Ensuring consumables are minimal and justified
- Not copying product descriptions
- Avoiding bundling ineligible items with grant purchases
