MiSTEM 3P STEM Education Grant

Eligibility
- Public and private agencies working with youth in Michigan are eligible to apply
- Open to formal and informal PK–12 education settings
Goals
- Reimagine STEM education using 3P learning: Place-, Project-, and Problem-based
- Empower instructors and elevate STEM culture across Michigan
- Support career exposure and STEM learning across disciplines, including science, math, computer science, and engineering
- Connect action areas to career exploration through authentic, transdisciplinary learning experiences
Application Due Date
- January 9, 2026 by 5:00 p.m. EST
Grant Cycle
- February 2026 – December 31, 2027
Grant Award Total Amount
- Up to $50,000 per organization
Allowable Purchases
- Includes instructional materials, hands-on STEM tools, and professional development that align with place-, project-, or problem-based learning and foster real-world, career-connected experiences for students.
- LEGO Education SPIKE Essential and SPIKE Prime: Yes – aligns with project-based learning, NGSS science integration, and student-led exploration
- LEGO Education Science: Yes – supports transdisciplinary STEM experiences tied to real-world problem solving
- Professional Development (PD): Yes – funding supports educator training aligning with the 3P pedagogy and implementation support aligned with the projected application
Program Implementation Requirements
- Must center on 3P learning (Place-, Project-, and/or Problem-based)
- Should support integration of STEM across subject areas and career-connected learning
- Must include participation in virtual 3P pedagogy professional learning and a grant kick-off workshop
- Expected to align with at least one of the MiSTEM action areas:
- Math as the language of STEM
- Science and engineering literacy
- High-quality computer science access
