STEM Program Grants

Eligibility
- STEM Sprouts: Organizations serving K to 5th-grade students through hands-on early STEM programs designed to build foundational science, technology, engineering, and
mathematics skills - STEM Stars: Organizations serving grades 6 to 12th-grade through advanced STEM programs, including programs supporting interests in areas such as computer science,
robotics, biomedical science, and environmental science - STEM Scholars: Organizations supporting college and post-secondary students pursuing or interested in STEM degrees or STEM-related fields
- Teen Tech Competition: Schools and organizations creating, implementing, or participating in a Teen Tech Competition focused on areas such as computer science,
robotics, and/or artificial intelligence
Goals
- Support student pathways into STEM learning and future STEM careers
- Fund hands-on STEM learning experiences that build curiosity, problem-solving, and critical thinking
- Support programs that show planning, outcomes, and the ability to expand student access to STEM
Application Due Date

Grant Award Total Amount
- Up to $25,000 per grant - do not go over even if you have matching/supporting funds
- Requesting a specific amount does not guarantee full funding
Allowable Purchases
- Educational materials, equipment, and age-appropriate books for STEM activities
- Age-appropriate technology resources, including coding activities, simulations, and advanced STEM technology resources
- Continuing education, professional development seminars, and classes for educators implementing STEM curriculum
Aligned to LEGO® Education Solutions
- LEGO Education Computer Science & AI aligns well to STEM Sprouts and STEM Stars because the grant supports advanced STEM learning, including computer science, robotics, and programs that prepare students for emerging technologies
- LEGO Education Science aligns to both STEM Sprouts and STEM Stars because the grant supports hands-on STEM experiences, inquiry, problem-solving, and age-appropriate STEM learning across grade bands
- Professional Development aligns because the grant specifically allows educator training, continuing education, seminars, and classes tied to STEM curriculum implementation
Program Implementation Requirements
- Only one Letter of Inquiry or grant application submission per organization, per EIN, per calendar year is allowed, and the foundation does not award more than one grant to any organization within a calendar year; subsequent submissions will be deleted
- Applicants must select one foundation program they are applying for: STEM Sprouts, STEM Stars, STEM Scholars, or Teen Tech Competition
- Applicants must provide the program name, request amount, grant period, geographic reach, total project budget, percent of project budget requested, amount already raised, and approximate number of people who will benefit
- Applicants must explain the project summary, whether the program is new or existing, why it is needed, and the outcomes they hope to achieve
- Professional development can be included when tied to STEM curriculum implementation, including continuing education, seminars, and classes for educators
Keep in Mind
- The foundation reviews requests based on mission fit, need, timing, budget, scalability, financial sustainability, evidence of impact, leadership, and future potential
- Organizations do not need to meet every listed program criterion, but they should clearly show strong program development and proven outcomes in at least one relevant area
- Do not use all capital letters anywhere in the application, and use standard capitalization and punctuation throughout
- Falsifying any information on the application will result in immediate denial without notice
- The foundation does not fund more than 10% of administrative costs, salaries, or any individual salary
- Organizations that previously received funding must have submitted required reports before a new request will be considered
