Eligibility
- Utah public school educators and administrators
- Multiple applications per school are allowed (max $5,000 total per school
Goals
- Support Utah K–12 students participating in approved STEM competitions within the state
- Enhance student learning and understanding in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics

August 31, 2025
Grant Cycle
25-26 School Year - Operates as a reimbursement
Grant Award Total Amount
- Up to $5,000 per school site.
- Based on the number of students participating at the school site.
Allowable Purchases
- Registration fees
- Student supplies for competition
- Travel within Utah for competition participation
LEGO® Education Alignment: SPIKE Essential and SPIKE Prime can support robotics competitions and STEM challenges through hands-on engineering and coding activities. LEGO® Education Science solutions can enhance STEM project work and experimentation.
Program Implementation Requirements
- Competition must be in Utah
- Approved examples include robotics competitions (e.g., FIRST LEGO League), science fairs, math contests, and coding competitions
- Only competitions providing meaningful STEM opportunities will be funded
- All expenditures require itemized receipts and final reporting for reimbursement

- Strong alignment to Utah’s Computer Science standards increases competitiveness
- Discuss needs with other applicants from your school before applying
- Use the scoring rubric to strengthen your application
- Once awarded, funds are paid to the district through a reimbursement process
- No funding for national/world competitions, apparel, food, teacher stipends, or non-essential hardware
