Learn how to introduce computer science knowledge, skills, and practices to your students through the lens of hands-on, joyful learning.

Computer Science and Computational Thinking skills are in demand across the Texas workforce. This Integrating Computer Science Across the Curriculum course is designed to equip teachers with the competencies and confidence to integrate computer science education in their instruction across all subjects. This course will help schools and districts build the capacity to deliver computer science instruction for students at all grade levels.
 
Our program is grounded in evidence-based strategies cited by CSTA and offers a supportive environment for educators to enhance their teaching practices. Through hands-on learning experiences, participants will explore essential computer science practices, classroom management strategies, and techniques for fostering student collaboration. Program Details

  • This FREE 4-day Professional Learning Series is a synchronous learning experience - two days in-person and two days synchronous online.
     
  • Lunch will be provided at all in-person sessions
     
  • All sessions will run from 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM
     
  • Upon completion, participants will receive complimentary LEGO® Education solutions to use in their classrooms and a certificate indicating their completion.
     
  • WeTeach_CS will provide CPE credits to participants based on attendance.

Learning Goals

  • Demonstrate a foundational understanding of computational practices and computer science knowledge and skills through hands-on exploration.
     
  • Identify instructional strategies to support differentiation and scaffolding of computer science knowledge and skills.
     
  • Explain how standards-aligned lessons support the seamless integration of Computer Science into the scope and sequence of their curriculum, with an emphasis on real-world problems and career pathways.
     
  • Develop strategies to support classroom culture, including student communication and collaboration when designing computational artifacts.

Additional Details

  • Every participant who completes the K-5 Professional Learning Series will receive 3 complimentary sets of LEGO® Education Computer Science & AI to use in their classrooms during the 2026-27 school year and beyond. Each set serves 4 students at a time.
     
  • Every participant who completes the 6-12 Professional Learning Series will receive 2 complimentary sets of LEGO® Education Computer Science & AI to use in their classrooms during the 2026-27 school year and beyond. Each set serves 4 students at a time.

Who Should Attend

  • K-12 teachers across all content and subject areas, including K-5 generalists. No prior Computer Science experience or knowledge is required
     
  • Administrators, curriculum specialists, library media specialists and instructional coaches
     
  • NOTE: Each session can accommodate a maximum of 20 participants. Register early to save your spot!
     
    These workshops are funded by The University of Texas at Austin - WeTeach_CS. Any Texas educator may participate in this professional learning series at no cost. They will also corresponding LEGO® Education solutions free of charge to use in their classrooms upon successful completion of the program.
